Diner’s Agenda: Let’s Be Honest, You’re Staying Home Tonight

It’s a very special edition of Diner’s Agenda. Between the truly disgusting weather and the Marathon, there’s not much going on in the way of special events tonight. Furthermore, we doubt that you really want to venture out into the rain. So pick up a nice bottle of wine on your way home from work and take one of our suggestions for food-based activities you can do in the warmth and privacy of your own home.

Cook: Tis the season for farm-fresh eggs. Pick some up from your local organic retailer on your way home and spend the evening making something elaborate like soft egg ravioli with lemon and (if you can swing it) a touch of truffle. Continue the lemon and egg theme with a dessert of lemon creme brulee.

Watch: Monday nights on the Travel Channel kick The Food Network’s behind in terms of innovative food programming. At 9:00, the ever-endearing Andrew Zimmern hosts Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. Tonight, he ventures to one of our favorite countries, Morocco, where calf’s brain and pigeon pie are on the menu. At 10:00, it’s time for our favorite food show, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. Tonight’s episode is entitled “Paris (Why the French Don’t Suck).” Really, what more do you need to know?

Read: If cooking seems to much to handle, we recommend logging onto MenuPages to find a new restaurant from which to order a delivered feast and curling up with Julie and Julia, the true story of how a New York woman set out to cook every recipe from Julia Child’s “Mastering The Art of French Cooking” in the span of a year. The book is hilarious, inspiring, and about to get even more buzz, since a movie deal is rumored to be in the works.
