Diner’s Agenda: Let’s Pretend It’s Summer

Diner’s Agenda screams for free ice cream.

•Today’s forecast calls for rain, gusting winds and a good-sized possibility of snow. Whatever, that just means that the lines at Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day will be shorter. Stop by any participating Scoop Shop between noon and 8:00 today to collect your free Phish Food (or whatever flavor you choose). Helpful hints: no one really cares if you go through the line twice and you can totally get it in a dish instead of a cone if, like us, you dread getting sticky. [Ben & Jerry’s: Events]
•If you need a little revivification after waiting in the harsh elements for your ice cream, head on down to Goody Glovers for their Smuttynose Beer Tasting Dinner tonight at 7:00. $39 gets you a five-course dinner paired with selections from the Smuttynose brewery. Heh heh. Smuttynose. Call (617) 367-6444 for reservations. [Goody Glovers: Events]
•Neal Connolly worked as the chef for the Kennedy family compound in Hyannisport for twelve years. Aside from presumably witnessing a whole lot of Kennedy family drama, he also became intimately familiar with the traditional New England cooking favored by Rose Kennedy. Connolly and co-author Elizabeth Benedict will be at Porter Square Books at 7:00 tonight to talk about their new book, In The Kennedy Kitchen: Recipes and Recollections of a Great American Family.
