Eating On The Esplenade

As we’ve already mentioned today, we don’t care for going to the Esplenade to watch the fireworks. The whole thing is too hot and crowded for our tastes. If, however, you’re bound and determined to brave the heat and masses, we will help you find food, because we’re generous like that. Takeout is obviously the way to go, since someone from your party needs to save your spot. Mosey on down to Charles Street and pick up a fine, portable snack. Below, where we’d eat if we were less misanthropically inclined.

•Opinions are divided on The Upper Crust, but we’ve always enjoyed it. The pizzas are of consistent quality, and the toppings are great. Grab a “Charles Street” pie: portobello mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, and garlic and head back to the Hatch Shell. Don’t forget the napkins!
•If it’s super hot, you might want to keep your food nice and light. If that’s the case, stop at Caffe Bella Vita for an antipasto salad, packed chock full with meats, cheeses, and lovely greens.
•We have a serious weakness for the baked goods at Panificio, most especially the bread. Taste the greatness with the Sicilian sandwich: a classic combination of prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato and basil. Hey, it has at least two of the day’s colors!
