Sushi And Dorchester And Barbara Lynch, Oh My!

The Boston restaurant gods are, apparently, feeling benevolent this week. We have four openings to report and no closings. This group of rumored openings is all about big names. To wit:

•First up, we have Ja Stats. Chowhound doesn’t seem to know much other than that it will be a bar and grill on the corner of Broad and Franklin. Googling is fruitless. From the name (which, incidentally reminds us of both Ja Rule and the contestant from Cycle Three of America’s Next Top Model who referred to her son as her Ja Wolf), we’re guessing it’s a sports bar, but really, that’s entirely speculative.
Chowhound also brings us the news that Chris Douglass of Dorchester’s Ashmont Grill is planning a new Italian restaurant on Dot Ave. Although it’s not slated to open for quite some time (Zagat Buzz says early 2008), the restaurant, Tavolo, already has a website in place. The site promises “the freshest in Italian family cuisine.” Sounds good to us, even if a few of the ‘hounds seem to disagree.
•Zagat also reports that Haru, a sushi chain with branches in New York and Philadelphia, is set to open in the Pru in October. This totally changes our feelings on mall food.
•Those crazy Chowhounders! Barbara Lynch’s cookbook library and demonstration kitchen Stir just opened, but those eager foodies are already looking toward her next ventures. Building has started on Lynch’s three floor mega-complex in Fort Point which is rumored to be the future home of a fine dining restaurant (which may or may not be an expanded No. 9 Park), a speakeasy-style lounge, and a lower priced neighborhood restaurant.
