Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Saved by the Bell had The Max. Beverly Hills, 90210 had The Peach Pit. Cheers had, well Cheers, of course. Yes, we may have spent a little too much time in front of the television as a child, but we saw how comforting it was to have a local watering hole as your go-to place for good food and good laughs.

During our college days, we had Thornton’s Fenway Grill as our gathering place. More of a consistent therapy session than just a warm meal, this is where we laughed for hours over the previous night’s drunken escapades, cured our hangovers with coffee and spicy bloody marys, and realized how lucky we were to have each other. Without getting too Mona Lisa Smile, Thornton’s is the perfect place to gather with friends to drink beers during the Sox games, spend the next day recovering with oversized tuna melts and cheese fries, and return for cocktails in your sweatpants that same evening. Due to its close proximity to Fenway Park and its multiple television sets throughout the bar and restaurant, game nights are always filled with a lively crowd. With most meals around the $10 mark, Thornton’s is the perfect place to gather with your friends and laugh about the good ol’ days. However, don’t expect the staff to remember your name. This isn’t Cheers, after all.
