Valentine’s Day. Sigh.

No, of course we’re not jaded about dating. But with February 14th creeping up on us like a rash, the fact is the best of Boston restaurants are gearing up for capitalizing on the holiday of love. And why shouldn’t they? With less people eager to spend major bucks and brave the bitter cold for a night out on the town, restaurants really want your business right now. So while we may not be experts in choosing the right dates, the choice of a restaurant is one skill we’ve mastered.

Certain Boston restaurants are offering Valentine’s Day prix fixe menus while keeping the budget crunch in mind. A recent hotspot for dinner and nightlife, Vlora is a a Mediterranean oasis where dinner won’t cost nearly as much as a flight to Capri. Besides offering their regular menu of delicious southern Italian, Albanian, and Greek meals, Valentine’s Day brings a three-course prix fixe menu at only $37 per person. Centrally located on Boylston Street only a hop from Copley Square, Vlora is definitely a popular date spot, yet it’s equally as lovely with a gaggle of girlfriends boycotting the holiday.

Bypassing the budget-friendly option for V-day? Can’t say we blame you with some of the pricey choices out there. Tucked in the Four Seasons Hotel overlooking the Public Garden, Aujourd ‘hui reeks of class with its 5 star rating. At $110 per person for the 4-course Valentine’s menu, guests can choose from options such as lobster ravioli in truffle oil with chives or foie-gras stuffed poisson. The dessert options are nothing to sneeze at either; we’re deeply intrigued by the chocolate raspberry mousse martini with coconut sorbet and a ginger crisp. Combining desserts with liqueur? C’est magnifique!
