Ming Tsai's Food Allergy Bill Passed

Ming Tsai.jpgMing Tsai, our favorite Boston-area celebrity chef, doesn't just care about his Beard-Award-winning Wellesley restaurant Blue Ginger, or his TV show, Simply Ming: he's also deeply committed to advocating on behalf of food allergy sufferers.

Chef Tsai, whose son has food allergies, recently lobbied the Massachusetts legislature on behalf of Senate Bill No. 271, which requires restaurants to educate their workers about food allergies, mandates that all menus contain a statement that customers should notify their servers of any food-related allergies, and provides a path for restaurants to be designated as "Food Allergy Friendly." The bill, which passed last month, is the first of its kind in the entire country and will go into effect in mid-April.
