Shocking Boston Burger Allegations!

Mr Bartley's Burger Cottage.jpg
The greater Boston area branches of Five Guys are subpar, alleges a commenter on A Hamburger Today. While this seems odd, we won't argue, since our life rarely takes us to Foxboro and we prefer the 50s Diner in Dedham.

We will, however, argue with an assertion made by AHT's Adam Kuban: "If they can't get the Boston-area 5Gs up to snuff, you'll be SOL, since I've heard that Boston is pretty bad for burgers in general." Adam! This is patently false! Boston is filled with delicious burgers. Here are just a few examples.

• Not only are the burgers and shakes at Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage stellar, but the restaurant is an institution and with good reason: it's fun and silly without being pieces-of-flare-forced. Did we mention the burgers? Go for the Bill Clinton, topped with good cheddar and BBQ sauce.

• Boston also has some excellent examples of the flat patty genre. UBurger, which just opened their second location today, is perfectly beefy and Flat Patties makes an awesome bacon cheeseburger.

• Finally, need we mention that Radius won the SoBe Burger Bash last year and placed in the top three this year? For a fancy restaurant burger, it doesn't get much better than that.
