Sonic's First New England Location Coming to Peabody

Sonic.jpg
Heavily-advertised drive-in chain Sonic will open its first New England location in Peabody, reports The Daily Item. Though the restaurant won't have any interior seating, there will be a drive-through window, service at the parked cars (!), and a patio for warmer months.

Sonic's menu looks fast-food-trashy, but awesome: popcorn chicken, chili cheese tots, and, astonishingly, a Coney Island dog, which will be a boon to New England's Michigan expats (despite the name, a Coney Island has nothing to do with Brooklyn). The beverages are familiar thanks to the ads: limeade, the McFlurry-esque Sonic Blast, and some sort of terrifying blue slush.

Currently, the nearest Sonic to Boston is in New Jersey, so August (when the Peabody location is set to open) will be the first time New Englanders can watch Sonic's incessant pseudo-improvised national ads without feeling bitter, jealous and confused.
