Persephone, the restaurant half of clothing shop/restaurant The Achilles Project, has closed, reports the Herald. Achilles Project owner Michael Krupp decided to shutter the whole enterprise, blaming in part "local politics and a lack of congruency among developers" in the Seaport District for failing to attract customers. Persephone's seasonal fare (created by Lumiere's Michael Leviton) was well-liked by Boston diners, but it seems the restaurant couldn't overcome the handicap of its location, just outside of prime Fort Point. There's no word yet as to what might replace Persephone, though given Krupp's harsh words for the neighborhood, it seems unlikely that restaurateurs will be lining up to take over the space. In the meantime, look for Sportello to assume even more dominance as the neighborhood's top fine dining choice.
