This Is Not Right

Lobster Gelato. For Real.

Brace yourself: Da Vinci is offering lobster gelato, made with real lobster, topped with sweetened lobster broth, and served in a lobster shell. UrbanDaddy, which helpfully mentions that the gelato is an off-the-menu item, is impressed by the novelty, but cold sweet lobster treats are nothing new: Maine and Massachusetts mini-chain Ben & Bill’s Chocolate Emporium has offered lobster ice cream for years. Should you feel inspired to make Da Vinci’s gelato at home, we’ve got the recipe below.

Lobster Gelato

Gelato
2 large eggs
3/4 c sugar
2 cup heavy cream
1 cup milk
1 cup lobster glaze
1 cup lobster meat
1 vanilla bean

Method
Boil vanilla bean with cream and milk and strain after. Add everything and put in ice cream machine and grain.

Sauce
2 cup honey
1 lb butter
5 lobster bodies
1 cup mango pulp
1 cup chopped mango

Method
Cook the lobster body with butter than reduce and strain. Mix all ingredients and add one pinch of salt.

For Serving
Put the sauce on the plate. Scoop the ice cream inside of the lobster tail and garnish with the sauce and fresh mint.
