Patrick Sullivan in at Legal Sea Foods

Legal Sea Foods president Roger Berkowitz dropped a bombshell on us at last night's Bivalves & Bubbles party. Former B-Side Lounge owner Patrick Sullivan is now in charge of the chain's cocktail program, with a special focus on the forthcoming Legal's Harborside. Sullivan is widely and rightly credited as one of the founding fathers of Boston's mixology renaissance and, if the cocktail we tried last night (a Deadrise, composed of vodka, lime, cucumber, and grapefruit bitters, and created to pair with oysters) is any indication, his presence is a big upgrade for liquor at Legal's.

  • This is news? Sullivan was a guest on TV Diner a couple of months ago, doing the "Drink This!" cocktail segment, and he already had this job title at Legal. It is good news if they actually give him some leeway. Hiring Jasper White a few years back as a consulting chef improved Legal's menu a lot, brought it out of the 70s, added some Portuguese and Asian-influenced dishes, better sides and vegetables.
