End of an Era: Last Boston Brigham’s Shutters

Yesterday was the last day of business for the High Street Brigham’s, the last in Boston proper, reports the Globe. Customers and waitstaff, many of whom have been frequenting or working at Brigham’s for decades, are devastated, particularly because only a week’s advance notice was given. Though there once were a hundred Brigham’s shops in Boston, they’ve been dropping like flies in recent years and now, the seventeen remaining stores are in the burbs. On the very small plus side: this totally justifies spending the evening memorializing Brigham’s with a pint of Big Dig ice cream from your supermarket and a good cry.
