A Shake Shack for Boston Common?

The owners of New York’s cult-like Shake Shack and the now-defunct Biltmore Room have each submitted proposals for Boston Common’s “pink palace,” says the Herald Randy Garutti’s proposed Shake Shack would be the nation’s fifth, following three New York City locations, as well as a forthcoming Miami outpost. The Shake Shack is tremendously popular in New York with lengthy lines at the original Madison Square Park location for the burgers, shakes, and hot dogs, a phenomenon that’s hard to imagine in wait-wary Boston. The other proposal comes from Biltmore Room owner Jeffrey Mills, a Boston native who proposes an eatery called The Common House serving New England cheap eats like fried clams, chowder, and lobster rolls (stretching the definition of cheap eats).
