O’Brien’s Bakery hopes to reopen on Vernon Street in South Quincy, reports the Patriot Ledger. This could mean the return of O’Brien’s famed soda bread to Quincy after a year-long hiatus — the bakery’s original Wollaston location shuttered at the end of 2008. The path for O’Brien’s isn’t totally clear, however. The proposed new location is in an industrial zone, so owner Brian Jackles needs permission from the Board of Zoning Appeals. That meeting is scheduled for this week.
