Ken Kelly Will Combine Brasserie with Tavern in Davis Square

A Craigslist post seeking an Executive Chef for a 150 seat restaurant in Davis Square would appear to be for the next project from Ken Kelly, the man behind The Independent. The restaurateur is planning an American brasserie, a faux-speakeasy lounge, and a comedy theater at 255 Elm, reports the Globe. The Craigslist post calls for a chef to develop a menu that’s “Classic Brasserie meets American Tavern. The menu will be brasserie in style and depth with a focus on classic New England fare.” It’s not a bad idea: while Boston proper is chockablock with restaurants with that exact theme (we’re looking at you, Woodward and Post 390), it hasn’t quite made its way out to the Paris of the 90s yet. Kelly didn’t return calls for comment, but the Globe indicates he might release the restaurant’s name this week.
