Mike Ross’ Dream Food Trucks

What has two thumbs and wants a Korean barbecue truck? This guy!

The city will hold its hearing on simplifying the permitting process for food trucks on August 31, and Serious Eats caught up with City Council president Mike Ross about his hopes for 50-100 new food trucks for the city. But Ross isn’t just a politician: he’s also a major league food truck fan. He was “thrilled” to hear about SoWa Market’s new food truck presence and he mentions Korean barbecue, the holy grail of food trucks, twice. He even has a killer business proposition for Ken Oringer: I’d love to see Ken Oringer’s grilled corn from La Verdad on the streets.”

For his part, Ken Oringer is flattered. “Awesome!! I love food trucks, sounds like a fun project! Hopefully the city will help make it happen for some cool concepts.” Agreed!
