Ah, the great American diner: leathery waitresses, pleathery booths, “Afternoon Delight” wafting from a beat-up jukebox. For anyone who’s ever paused to marvel at such beauty in between bites of Denver omelet, this exhibit’s for you. Lexington’s National Heritage Museum currently hosts Night Road: Photographs of American Diners by John D. Woolf. He traveled up and down the Eastern Seaboard capturing diners in all their glory. The result is an Edward Hopper-esque survey of some blindingly garish, nostalgia-inducing cultural landmarks; shots include Somerville’s Rosebud Diner and the Miss Worcester Diner.
