Bostonians’ Taste In Wine is Just So Sophisticated

According to an expert, we just love fine wine! So says the head of the Boston Wine Festival, anyway.

Meritage’s Daniel Bruce, who kicks off his 22nd annual Boston Wine Festival tonight at the Boston Harbor Hotel, runs similar festivals in Berkeley, Califonia; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Washington, D.C. But hometown oenophiles are the best oenophiles, maybe because it can be kind of tough to find great wine around here. “In Berkeley, there’s wine all over the place,” he says. “Plus, we’re closer to the European community. We have a strong connection to Old World business. Wine collectors really appreciate Bordeaux and Burgundy. You know, Bostonians really have a very sophisticated palate.” It’s a Friday, and we’ll drink to that. Santé.
