It’s Mezcal Time Tomorrow at Ole

Erwin Ramos, who has converted countless Boston diners to the pleasures of Oaxacan and Veracruz cuisine, hosts an intimate mezcal tasting tomorrow at his Inman Square restaurant, Ole.

He’ll focus on Del Maguey mezcals, organic and unblended, made in remote areas of Oaxaca. (We find them a bit fruitier than other tequilas).

Ramos is still finalizing his four-course menu, but we’re told to definitely expect Molotes de Chivo (golden corn masa croquettes filled with pheasant valley young goat, sweet hot pasilla, salsa negra, citrus friscee salad, crema, and queso cotija), as well as Cocotel de Atun Tropical (sashimi-grade yellowfin tuna cocktail with avocado-tomatillo guacamole and citrus papaya-grapefruit salsa).

Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m., and dinner is just $30 per person. Call the restaurant for reservations, which are required. Bonus: Our palates will be that much more refined when we get around to prowling the city’s 12,341 new tequila places.

Note: We earlier reported that Ole’s Mezcal tasting was this evening. It actually happens tomorrow, February 10. Clearly we’re already imbibing!
