Tico Opens for Lunch; Newton North High School Gets A Restaurant

In this week’s neighborhood dispatch, we skip from the Back Bay to Kendall Square to Newton North High School (really). The latest news, straight ahead.

Back Bay: Michael Schlow’s Tico is now serving lunch. [Grub Street]

Harvard Square: Lamole Restaurant will hopefully overcome its unfortunate name to dispense pizzas, pastas, subs, and salads. [BRT]

Newton: This could either be very cool or very wrong: The Tiger’s Loft Bistro has opened within Newton North High School. Students (certified by ServSafe and the American Culinary Foundation) prepare sandwiches and so forth with Greek influences. [Wicked Local]

North End: Nebo and Umbria Prime will be featured on the March 2 episode of Throwdown with Bobby Flay. The dish in question? Veggie lasagna. [Grub Street]

Kendall Square: The Blue Room and Central Bottle launch a collaborative tasting dinner series, called At the Table, beginning on Monday. [BostonChefs]

Back Bay: Now-shuttered Borders might become home to a two-level restaurant in the vein of Towne and MET Back Bay. [Herald]

Post Office Square: The former Verizon building in Post Office Square will undergo a $35 million renovation, complete with two new restaurants. [Globe via Adam’s Hospitality]

Liberty Wharf: Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House has announced an April 23 opening. [Grub Street]
