It’s the End of the Line for Redline; El Centro to Launch in the South End

Harvard Square: The Grafton Group (the team behind Russell House Tavern and Temple Bar) will close Harvard Square’s Redline on May 28 and reopen the space as a completely different, as yet unknown, concept. [BRT]

South End: El Centro plans to open on Shawmut Avenue by May 26. But don’t confuse it with the slew of high-end Mexican spots springing up throughout the city. The restaurant plans to serve affordable, “authentic” cuisine. [Adam’s Hospitality]

Kenmore Square: The Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission has approved the sale of mixed drinks at Fenway Park, starting this week. [Herald]

Faneuil Hall: Todd English is making changes to Kingfish Hall in the wake of Faneuil Hall Marketplace’s sale to a New York City-based group. English says the new venture will be a “better fit” for the space. [BRT]

Marina Bay: Stoddard’s beer manager Jamie Walsh is readying Oyster Bar at Marina Bay for its debut in the next few weeks; the spot will feature fresh oysters and cherrystones, plus “fried seafood classics.” [Fork Lift]

Davis Square: Kickass Cupcakes’ food truck, set for debut this month, was destroyed in a manufacturing fire. All is not lost, however: A new truck is being constructed on the double and should be ready to roll by month’s end. [Examiner]
