Does Massachusetts Have Sour Grapes?

A wine-reform organization thinks so. Free the Grapes is pressing the state to allow wine shipment from licensed wineries, a practice that’s forbidden here in Massachusetts. More ahead.

As we’re all too aware, Massachusetts is one of very few states that forbids licensed wineries from delivering directly to consumers. Unfortunate, then, since according to the group we’re the “seventh largest wine consumption state” in America.

The Herald’s Fork Lift blog reports that Free the Grapes will unleash their wrath on the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure tomorrow and make the case that the wine-shipment ban should be lifted.

If you’d like to lend your support to their extremely worthy cause, visit the liquor-distribution reformists at their website. We’re really digging their angry disco-grape mascot.
