Just a few months ago everyone was busy remarking on how, well, "hot" Boston is for Mexican food, and now one of our newest spots has turned off the margarita machines for good. The award for quickest-to-close-new-Mexican-restaurant goes to Jalapenos. Boston Restaurant Talk reports via tipsters at Chowhound that the short-lived Allston spicery shuttered as of Saturday, after about four months in business. But never fear: Their other branches remain open in Gloucester and Saugus, where there's surely less competition. [BRT]
