Closings

Burton’s Grill Pulls Up Stakes in Fenway [Updated]

Burtons’ Grill, the suburban burger ‘n steakhouse chain with one improbable Boylston Street location, is shuttering that branch after about four years in business. Boston Restaurant Talk reports that they’ll dim the lights for good on Saturday. We’re thinking they just had too many worthy competitors in the area, from Tasty Burger to Citizen Public and, soon, Tiffani Faison’s Sweet Cheeks. Burton’s, of course, has plenty of other outlying branches (North Andover, Peabody, and, soon, Burlington), all areas with far less competition.

[Update] In a statement sent to Grub Street, Burton’s CEO Kevin Harron says: “Although it may be viewed as a negative, this closing actually allows us to focus solely on our suburban expansion plan. Our company is rock solid and because it is we can make this difficult decision. We will miss the Fenway customers and thank them for their support over the last 4 years and most importantly we will do whatever we can to assist our employees in this process.” [BRT]
