Descent Opens in the W; Rosa Mexicano Makes Seaport Plans [Updated]

Theater District: W Hotel's Descent Lounge was slated to open this week but the opening has been pushed back a bit; when it does open, expect a DJ booth cordoned off by a "mesh chain curtain" and "intimidating personas" plus a "mod red chandelier" and a "funky starburst-imaged staircase." Wellesley: Making the best of the Globe's fish investigation, Ming Tsai will give away free dessert through Sunday to anyone who mentions that they'd like to try the "sablefish."

Seaport: Rosa Mexicano will open its first Boston branch on the corner of Seaport Boulevard and B Street. Don't get too excited, though; it won't open 'til 2012. [Globe]

Back Bay: In honor of the unseasonably premature snowfall, MET Back Bay will offer free, warming soup shots at lunch and dinner. [AH]

Downtown Crossing: Swanky Salvatore's has opened at 545 Washington Street; it's the chain's fourth outpost. [AH]

Stanhope Street: Next-door neighbors Brahmin and Zocalo host Angels & Devils tonight, with "endless" supplies of candy, libations, music, and apps. Don a costume and float between venues; best costume wins dinner for two at both spots. [Grub Street]

Inman Square: Taza Chocolate's factory store hosts a Day of the Dead fiesta on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.; Cuisine En Locale and Counter Culture Coffee provide the food and drink; plus there's mole beer from Cambridge Brewing Company. [Grub Street]

Hingham: Wahlburgers, helmed by Mark, Donnie, and chef-bro Paul, has opened. [Earlier]

*This post has been corrected to show that Descent hasn't yet opened.
