75 Chestnut Emerges From Obscurity

75 Chestnut, the hidden little Beacon Hill restaurant famous for staying hidden is reportedly opening a second branch at flashy Liberty Wharf. The cozy hideaway is currently advertising for employees at their waterfront branch, billing themselves on Craigslist as one of the city’s most “recogonizable” restaurants.

Can 75 Chestnut compete with the glitzier Seaport restaurants? And why would they want to? They already have a loyal Beacon Hill following. Grub Street visited the leafy hideaway several years ago, cooing over the “cozy yet elegant atmosphere” and the “everybody knows your name” feel. In fact, noted our writer, it’s the “epitome of a true Bostonian restaurant that manages to combine class and comfort, destined to be a fixture on the Boston restaurant scene for years to come.”

Apparently so. But can it go head to head with, say, Rosa Mexicano?
