Scrapped Plans

Restaurateur Darryl Settles Won’t Open a Hotel After All

Darryl Settles (you know him from Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen) won’t open that boutique hotel and restaurant in Bay Village after all. Neighborhood group members Brian Boisvert and Sarah Herlihy “filed suit arguing the hotel’s top floors would block views from their rooftop deck,” per the BBJ. Hate when that happens.

Their suit delayed development plans. “The suit delayed our ability to move forward and it became impossible to put all the pieces of this puzzle together in time for a spring opening,” the BBJ quotes developer David Schwartz. “And we lost a potential restaurant tenant because they [the Zoning Board of Appeals] got tired of waiting.”

Eager restaurateurs and hoteliers should take note: Schwartz said they are putting the property at 110 Arlington Street, which was bought in 2010 for a cool $2.4 million, up for sale. Anyone want to open a new restaurant in Bay Village? One without a roofdeck?
