Local Restaurateurs Breathe a Sigh of Relief

It's the most wonderful time of the year for our hometown restaurants: Opening Day at Fenway, the Boston Marathon, and downright balmy temps conspire to make people flee their kitchens to dine out.

Of course, some of those eager eaters will be tourists in town for the race. "You can’t even walk on the sidewalks in the North End. ... Everyone has to have their pasta," the Herald quotes neighborhood denizen Jerry Maffeo as saying. (In other words: Avoid the North End today.)

The Herald tallies the city's added revenue: $1.1 million to $1.3 million for each Red Sox game, $1 million for Bruins playoff games, and $137.5 million from the marathon. If you need some carbolicious ideas (even if you didn't just run a marathon), avail yourself of our lovely pasta slideshow.
