How do you really get L.A. foodies in a snit? Close Daikokuya for ten days. Downtown’s mega-popular ramen storefront plans to shutter its doors starting May 14 and stretching to May 23. The closure is announced on the restaurant’s website and backed by the rumor on Facebook that owners are going to a ramen competition in Japan, with various employees taking the time to work at other locations. One fan who was planning on driving to L.A. specifically for Daikokuya says, “this is so depressing,” something the owners of the new Downtown location of Shin Sen Gumi probably won’t concur with.
