L’Espalier Goes Casual, Gets Cheesy

Bring on the beer.
Bring on the beer.

Soon you’ll be able to enjoy one of the country’s most elegant restaurants without having to befriend a rich person max out your credit card. Grub Street hears that L’Espalier’s pre-eminent fromager, the ever diplomatic Louis Risoli, will host a cheese tutorial each month, which includes alcohol pairings courtesy sommelier Erich Schliebe.

They’re calling it a “salon” (swanky!), and the first one happens on August 30 at 6 p.m.. They’ll run monthly, and for $55 with 16 combos, it’s a relative steal. The introductory topic is cheese and beer. The perfect way to welcome fall, right? Call L’Espalier to reserve a seat. This has third date written all over it.
