Pino Maffeo used to cook at Patricia Yeo’s New York restaurants, Az and Pazo, where he got very good reviews; he was also at Boston’s late, lamented Sage, the short-lived Boston Public, and Louis Boston’s Restaurant L. And now he’s in the ‘burbs, serving as executive chef at the Winchester branch of Lucia, where he’s been quietly ensconced for a few years. Who knew? Not many.
A release says that the one-time Food & Wine best new chef’s updated menu “will feature a variety of classic dishes like lasagna and Saltimbocca as well as modern takes including grilled marinated salmon, grilled rack of lamb, and a variety of daily specials that showcase Chef Maffeo’s culinary talents.” The fate of his former mentor Yeo remains a mystery; we’re still not sure what she’s doing in Chicago.
