Just in time for Halloween, spooky Salem has instituted a bad-behavior ban at its restaurants. Basically, if you act like a drunken idiot at any one of them, you'll be treated worse than an accused witch and prohibited from dining anywhere in the city for six months. Per CBS, "One Strike and You're Out" means that if you're arrested or given a no-trespass order at one restaurant, you're not invited to eat elsewhere. Of course, it must be pretty difficult to actually get arrested at a restaurant ... right? Perhaps not: Per one restaurant owner, the program was "all but forgotten" until several disturbing incidents at a scary place called Bangkok Paradise.
Bangkok Paradise has dealt with alcohol-related brawls recently, including a stabbing and a 100-person fight. Frightening! Basically, the point is to scare people into behaving properly: "Its beauty is in its deterrent factor. Threatening somebody with not being able to go to any of the awesome bars in Salem for six whole months helps keep people behaving themselves," says an owner of the Lobster Shanty. Banned from drinking in Salem? A fate worse than death, indeed. [CBS, Examiner]
