It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione, and many of the folks he employs at his Delaware-based brewery are known to rock out to the Grateful Dead from time to time. And based on the string of far out beers they’ve brewed in homage of artists as diverse as Miles Davis, Pearl Jam, and Del the Funky Homosapien, the cult jam band being the subject of a forthcoming strong American-style pale ale shouldn’t blow anyone’s minds either. But before they get working on it, they’re looking for input from fans for a signature ingredient that ties the ale to the band and its long, strange trippy legacy. Weed, ’shrooms, acid and every other inebriant favored by Deadheads have already been proposed, and ruled out, according to a Dogfish Head rep. So you’ll need to come up with something better that, Captain Trips. Suggestions will be accepted through their website until the end of December.
