North End Restaurants Might Pay for Their Own Police Details

Since when is happiness a crime?

People are having way too much fun in the North End. Yet again, disgruntled residents are complaining that too many happy drunkards prance through their streets late at night. "We mostly see people that are over-served from the bars they are coming from and walking back to the neighborhood, says one police officer, according to North End Waterfront. Says another officer: "They are a happy crowd that unfortunately are impacting the quality of life of others." The nerve!

Officers note that many wayward revelers happen into the North End looking for places to eat (since the neighborhood doesn't have nightclubs, and really, why else would they be there). Police are now considering adding private police details funded by late-night restaurants and bars, ostensibly to keep "happiness" to a minimum. [NEW]
