Pushcart Vendors Push On

Maybe there's hope that Downtown Crossing's pushcart vendors won't be pushed out of the neighborhood after all. After a recent meeting, some vendors are optimistic, "They really can’t speak to the long-term plans right now, but, in the short-term, it seems they are going to work with us to keep us in business," operator Craig Caplan told the Herald. Susan Ellsbree, a spokeswoman for the Boston Redevelopment Authority, doesn't sound quite as hopeful: "We just had one meeting ... We’re still working on moving forward with the program. We have other people to meet with. We have internal stakeholders, and the BID [Business Improvement District- has to do research.” Don't these stakeholders like pretzels? [Herald, Earlier]
