Steve "Nookie" Postal Almost Lost a Toe, Missed the Birth of His Child

Nobody ever said opening a restaurant was easy.

Nobody ever said opening a restaurant was easy.

Eater Boston reported yesterday that "Nookie" plans to open Jewish BBQ joint Steinbones in Central Square (location to be determined shortly). Nookie also plans to open a larger restaurant, Commonwealth, in Cambridge. But this sort of rapid expansion doesn't come without sacrifice, he tells us.

"I spent my winter living in a lean-to in my backyard smoking meats. It was very cold and I may lose a toe from frostbite. I missed the birth of my child and my wife almost left me...all for a little bbq joint called Steinbones."

Addendum: Nookie says he's (mostly) joking about the birth of his child. Phew.
