West Roxbury Ice Cream Shop Was Allegedly Home to a Ponzi Scheme

Universal Hub has the scoop: A West Roxbury couple has been charged with running a Ponzi operation above an innocuous Centre Street ice cream shop. Steven and Lori Palladino have been indicted for "loan sharking, larceny and making false entries in corporate books" through Viking Financial Group. Steven Pallidino is scheduled for arraignment today on those charges, as well as being "a common and notorious thief based on more than two dozen prior larceny convictions in Suffolk Superior and Norfolk Superior courts," the Hub reports. Palladino also maintained a mistress, whose rent was paid with ill-gotten funds. Happily, it seems he was more popular in the ice cream world.

UH doesn't reveal the name of the shop, but a little sleuthing reveals that a guy named Steve Palladino, reported at the time to own Viking, launched an ice cream parlor called iScream in 2008, on Centre Street. It opened to rave reviews and huge crowds. "This is truly a place for kids, and this kind of response is what we hoped for," Palladino told Wicked Local at the time.

So, have their funds been frozen?
