Bad news and good news this afternoon. We'll get the bad news out of the way first: The South End's Sibling Rivalry has shuttered. The closure isn't due to actual sibling rivalry (chef-brothers Bob Kinkead and David Kinkead ran the place), we don't think. But maybe the dueling-menu concept was just too tough to keep up. According to BRT, a sign on the door says that the restaurant closed for good on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a rep confirms to Grub Street that Kendall Square's Area Four will open a second branch in Somerville. The rep says that a Somerville project is "in the works" but can't disclose details. A sleuthy Chowhound poster spotted work orders signed by Michael Leviton/Area Four Partners at the former Bearded Pig space at 445 Somerville Avenue, right across from the Market Basket.
We'll keep you apprised.
